An eighty five year old woman is dead after being tasered by Houston County District Attorney Kelly Burke. Burke along with several other volunteers were assisting with the Happy Valley Nursing Home's Thanksgiving Dinner. Witnesses say that eighty five year old resident Otha Mae Wilkerson rolled her electric wheelchair towards Burke to ask him for more cranberry sauce. Burke produced a taser and yelled, "Back it up old woman or I will bust a dart in your ass." As Otha Mae was profoundly deaf, she continued towards Burke saying, "Eh, what's that Sonny?" Burke then shot Otha Mae in the chest with his State issued Ol' Sparky Model DOA Taser Device. Onlookers report that Burke then shocked her between seven and ten times, rendering her unconscious. Ms. Wilkerson was pronounced dead minutes later by staff physicians.
When asked for comment, Burke stated, "Her death was clearly accidental. Her own actions ultimately led to her death." Burke also said he saw no reason for further investigation and considered the matter to be closed.
